NORD showcases new 2-stage helical bevel gearboxes at Drives & Controls 2016

NORD Drivesystems showcased their latest series of slim
two-stage helical bevel gearboxes with output torques up to 50 Nm at the Drives
& Controls exhibition held at the NEC in Birmingham, UK earlier this year.

The highly efficient helical bevel type units complement
NORD’s line-up of worm gearboxes already available for small powers. Featuring
a robust design with a ‘Unicase’ gear housing and large dimensioned bearings,
the gear units can withstand high radial or axial loads acting on the output
shaft. Available for gear ratios from 3.58 to 61.88, the new gear units add a
new size to the existing series that now comprises of six sizes with output
torques up to 660 Nm.

The two-stage helical bevel gearboxes are supplied with
hollow and solid shafts, single or double shafts for foot or flange mounting,
and in open or enclosed designs. The very high power density, standard across
all versions, ensures robust reliability and easy handling. The motors, drive
electronics, accessories, gaskets and lubricants can all be custom-configured to
suit the demands of diverse industries. For instance, the units can be supplied
with nsd tupH heavy-duty corrosion-protection surface treatment for the
aluminium housings, making them suitable for washdown applications.

NORD Drivesystems also showcased a large fully
functional conveyor technology demonstration rig that brought together a
selection of their geared motors and decentralised frequency inverters and
starters, all well proven for materials handling applications in packaging
machinery and logistics industries.

NORD additionally demonstrated further decentralised
capability through two smart control solutions for synchronous and asynchronous
motors utilising SK 200E series frequency inverters complete with PLC
