Metromatics releases new RE0814 fanless rugged embedded computer from Crystal Group

Crystal Group Inc. has launched a new range of rugged embedded computers
designed for use in environments with restrictions on moving parts and physical

Featuring a compact fanless design with no moving parts, the new RE0814 rugged
embedded computer has an exceptional operating temperature of 85¡C, incorporates
a new powerful Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processor, and is packaged into a small
rugged 1U short chassis measuring 27.9 x 35.5cm.

The RE0814’s billet construction is made from machined strain hardened
6061T651 structural aircraft aluminium. Weighing only 3.4kg, the compact build includes
four SATA 6.35cm solid state drives and five USB ports including four on the
back and one on the front. The unit is also available with up to four Ethernet
ports and a VGA or DVI-I port.

Finding application in the power distribution market, the new RE0814 rugged
embedded computers present an attractive solution for programs with Size,
Weight, and Power (SWAP) criteria. The computers can be rack mounted or bolted
to a wall or cabinet door, allowing for space-optimised installation in any
environment. The RE0814 is tested to IEEE 1613 and IEC 61850-3 standards.
