Gorman-Rupp pump recommended for effluent transfer at meat processing plant

Hydro Innovations recommended a self priming pump from
the Gorman-Rupp wastewater pumps range to a meat processing plant during a
recent upgrade.

The NSW-based meat processor sought to upgrade their effluent transfer
pumps to a more efficient range. Their existing vertically mounted end suction
pumps needed to be serviced more frequently and the maintenance costs were also
increasing, encouraging the company to look for a better alternative. The pump was
required to draw water from the belowground wet well, and deliver the required
flow of up to 75 litres per second.

Hydro Innovations suggested the V6A60-B, one of Gorman-Rupp’s Ultra V
Series self priming wastewater pumps. Featuring the latest in solids handling
self priming pump technology from Gorman-Rupp, this range can deliver hydraulic
efficiencies up to 70 per cent. Easy maintenance and safety were two very
important advantages of the pump.

The new Gorman-Rupp V6A60-B wastewater pumps can be operated easily at
peak efficiency as clearance adjustments are done externally, without the need
to open the pump or remove it from service. This also minimises power costs and
reduces the incidence of blockages.

The pump was coupled to a 75kW motor and supplied to the site for years
of trouble-free performance.
