Case Study: Installing custom made Perspex

Allplastics Engineering fabricated Perspex cabinets for the classrooms
at the new Dr Chau Chak Building opened recently in Sydney by the
Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove.

Australia’s first Frank Gehry designed building, the $180 Million Dr
Chau Chak Wing Building at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) features
many of the famous architect’s signature curves and unique features.

Allplastics supplied custom made clear acrylic cabinets for two unique
log cabin style oval classrooms located in the learning spaces of the lower
levels of the building. The oval classrooms allow students to interact with
each other across the room with their tutor at the centre or side.

Allplastics fabricated the acrylic cabinets for Karisma Joinery that was
engaged to deliver a very challenging fitout with tight deadlines.

Allplastics individually constructed, drilled and sanded the carcase and
bulkhead from 12mm thick clear acrylic sheets to achieve the specific finish sought
by the architect.

Allplastics also supplied 25mm clear acrylic panels for the light
features of the UTS cafeteria area.

Allplastics specialises in the fabrication, machining and supply of acrylics,
polycarbonate and other architectural and building plastics and design
surfaces.
