Backplane Systems Technology has introduced the new RuggON 10.1″
IP65 rugged slimline tablet PC for field and vehicle applications.
Featuring Intel Atom Bay Trail E3827 dual core processor supporting
Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, the RuggON PM-521 tablet PCs meet the
MIL-STD-810G rating for shock and vibration and can be dropped from five feet
onto plywood on a concrete surface. The IP65 slim rugged tablet PC is fully
sealed against the ingress of liquid and dust damage and has an operating
temperature range of -20¡C to +50¡C.
Key features of the new PM-521 slim rugged tablet PCs include 10.1″
LED backlit screen with integrated 10-point capacitive multi-touch screen supporting
glove touch, water rejection, palm rejection and 2mm hard tip stylus; rugged
Gorilla Glass3 screen featuring a display brightness of 1000nits and offering
sunlight readable functionality for outdoor applications; based on Intel’s Atom
E3827 1.75GHz Dual Core CPU; includes 4GB of DDR3 SODIMM (8GB by request) and
120GB of upgradeable mSATA SSD; and hot-swappable dual batteries offering up to
12 hours of battery life in the extended version and 6 hours in the standard
The PM-521 also features a 5 mega pixel webcam with LED flash and
auto-focus embedded in the rear bezel and a 2 mega pixel camera with audio
input in the front panel. The onboard Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
and GPS plus optional 3.5G or 4G TLE modules enable seamless communication, and
the GNSS (GPS/Glonass/BelDou) is a standard feature.
Data capture options include NFC, 1D/2D barcode scanner, smart card
reader (CAC) and magnetic stripe reader (MSR) suitable for portable inventory
and asset management. Multiple connectivity interfaces include 1x USB3.0, 1x
USB2.0, 1x Audio Jack, 1x Micro SIM slot, 1x Micro SD slot, 1x Micro HDMI port
and 1x Gigabit Ethernet port. Three programmable function buttons are located
on the front panel along with Power, Volume and Windows controls for user
Vehicle and desktop docking stations are available as optional
accessories, providing additional recharge and connectivity interfaces for
users working in the field or at their desk.
