The seasonally adjusted estimate for domestic sales of Australian-produced wine was 37.4ML in August 2004, the highest level ever recorded. This was an increase of 9.2% on July 2004. The seasonally adjusted estimate for domestic sales of white table wine increased 7.7% on July 2004 while red and rosé table wine increased 13.1% on July 2004.
In original terms, 37.1ML of Australian produced wine was sold domestically by winemakers in August 2004, an increase of 1.1% on July 2004 and 10.5% on August 2003.
Exports of Australian produced wine were 60.2ML in August 2004, the highest level on record. This was an increase of 18.3% on July 2004. Australia exported 595.9ML with a value of $2.5bn in the twelve months ending August 2004, an increase of 10.5% in volume and 1.8% in value over the corresponding period to August 2003.
