Artesyn has launched eight vertical mount non-isolated point-of-load DC/DC converters. PTV Series converters are fully compatible with POLA (Point-of-Load Alliance) standards, providing users with the flexibility and security of multiple sources of supply. The smallest model in the series, the PTV03010, is a 3.3 Vin, 8 A output unit that takes up very little PCB real estate. The PTV series point-of-load converters occupy less board space than the company’s PTH series horizontal mount counterparts. The PTV and PTH Series POL converters feature Auto-Track power sequencing, enabling multiple converters to track each other, or an external voltage, during power-up and power-down. The converters also have a pre-bias start-up capability, enabling them to be used in situations where feed-through from a multi-rail device might cause a voltage to be present on the converter output during power-up. The PTV Series comprises two categories of non-isolated POL converters that are determined primarily by output current capability and physical size, each of which contains a number of models covering the nominal input voltage values of 3.3V, 5V and 12 V. The PTV series are fully interoperable with similar products manufactured by other members of the POLA, providing considerable sourcing flexibility, long-term security of supply and support for very high volume applications. The converters carry a full set of international safety approvals, including EN60950 (TÜV Product Service) and UL/cUL60950, and they have an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
