Utility Services Corporation (USC) has acquired e-business software developer Eclipse Computing Australia for an initial $3.4 million.
The deal, which is the largest for USC since selling its MITS subsidiary in December 2000, will expand USC’s involvement in the sale, customisation, development and support of business software for medium to large businesses.
Eclipse sells a range of accounting and financial packages and counts over 350 clients for these products including cinema chains Hoyts and Greater Union as well as MasterCard International and BMW Finance.
The company also sells CRM solutions to a number of clients including WorkCover, and is the leading supplier of Pivotal CRM software in Australia, according to USC executive chairman Geoff Lord.
“The Eclipse business will fit neatly into the business solutions group within our e-business division and is complementary to both QSP and Opticon,” Lord said.
“The acquisition will also add significantly to the capability of our front and back office solutions offering.”
The initial $3.4 million payment comprises $2.1 million to vendors and $1.3 million to retire Eclipse borrowings, Lord said.
Lord said that at current figures, Eclipse would account for over 10% of group revenue and about the same proportion of USC’s pre-tax profit.
