Two-way courier envelope from Amcor
AMCOR Cartons has launched an innovative two-way envelope that has the courier industry eager to test.
The patented “There and Back Pacs”, as the name suggests, provide senders a medium to deliver contracts, agreements, legal papers and other documents that can be returned in the same envelope.
Because the envelope is intended to be pre-paid by the original sender, the courier can, if required, wait for the enclosed documents to be signed and immediately return the envelope to its owner, minimising the turnaround time.
The “There and Back Pacs” were designed by Amcor Carton’s development manager Ron Hamblin, and the manufacturing process was developed by the team at the Zillmere plant in Queensland.
The envelopes have a foolproof detachable front flap which eliminates any chance of a misunderstanding about who the correct addressee is. All the detail and open/close features are on the back of the envelope, therefore the envelope’s front provides an ideal location to promote a corporate image.
“Some of the best solutions are simple in concept,” Hamblin said. “We see a great future for the pack.”
The envelopes are manufactured from recycled carton board, and can replace the currently used plastic courier bags. The rigidity inherent in the carton board ensures that documents arrive and return in pristine condition.
The Amcor Cartons Zillmere engineering team has developed an applicator that, in one pass, applies two lots of double-sided tape and two lots of tear tape on the envelope.
Staff also designed and built a consignment note applicator for the envelope, which allows customisation of each envelope for easy tracking.
