WITH Technology Futures Conference (TFC) moving to Melbourne after three successful years in Adelaide, the organisers are tailoring the content to match Victoria’s automotive focus.
While the three previous TFC events included a strong defence component to mirror South Australia’s defence hot spot, this year’s event will include more presentations on automotive technology from respected national and international speakers.
Among the topics the Electronics Industries Association (EIA) and co-organisers the Australian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (AEEMA) plan to include are next generation car networks based on the FlexRay communication system, electronic accident avoidance and emerging trends in automotive technology across the Asia-Pac region.
In addition the event will include several presentations on current progress in telematics. Telmatics is defined as a combination of wireless voice and data communication systems aimed at providing drivers with safety and information including vehicle tracking, real-time traffic data, emergency aid and entertainment from a central service centre.
“While continuing to cover the technologies that matter to Australian engineers - for example defence, medical and telematics – TFC’s move to Melbourne this year provides an ideal opportunity to increase the content focused on automotive technology,” explains Jason Kuchel, EIA’s executive director.
