New technologies including welding consumables and machines will be on show from Specialised Welding Products on stand 9003 during the 2006 Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) from 25 to 27 July at the Mackay Showgrounds.
New developments in welding consumables include seamless copper coated hardfacing wires that have the unique capability of operating at low voltage in spray mode. This allows for minimum spatter and semi positional welding offering versatility, better quality hardfacing, less clean up after welding and higher productivity.
The SWP Integra division is said to be extending the life of gyratory crusher mantle.
In a recent trial conducted at a copper mine with a very abrasive ore, applying a specially designed alloy system to the crush zone of the mantle prior to installation significantly increased the life of the manganese steel mantle.
The life of the mantle without hardfacing was 750,000 tonnes of crushed ore.
The trial is still ongoing but hardfacing the mantle prior to installation is expected to increase the life to 1,300,000 tonnes of crushed ore.
