Sight-saving solution in seconds
EVERY second counts when it comes to eye injuries. Flushing the eye immediately with tear-quality saline is a vital first step to saving sight.
The widely recommended first aid treatment for chemical eye injuries is to wash the eyes thoroughly to remove all contamination. To suit, G & A First Aid Supplies offers racks of pre-filled, sterile and sealed single-use eye wash bottles, which give a washing time of up to 15 minutes - these will be on show at G & A's stand at Safety In Action and Materials & Manual Handling from 21-23 March.
The Tobin brand sealed bottles from G & A First Aid Supplies are maintenance-free, yet contain no preservatives or additives that could irritate the eye. Installation is also made simple. A rack of the single use bottles is simply hung on the wall, with no need for plumbing or large and expensive tanks, and the bottles have a shelf life of three years.
Tobin Eyewash is also unique for its round-ended bottle, which is easily distinguished from other containers and almost impossible to re-use.
G & A suggests employers keep the 15-minute rack of five low cost one-litre Tobin bottles at each work area so that a constant flow of the tear-quality sodium chloride solution can be applied long enough to dilute and wash away material in the eye.
