Roche boosts orders with Zinifex
Roche Mining has secured several major projects covering mine operations, minerals processing, minerals technology and drilling services worth over $400m that maintains its order book at $2bn.
Roche Mining, as part of the Roche Eltin joint venture (REJV), has won a new three-year mining alliance contract with Zinifex Limited for the provision of mine management services at the Zinifex Century Mine in Queensland. The new contract, which commenced 1 July, extends the five-year relationship with Century Mine and is worth over $370m of which Roche Mining will earn over $185m for the three years.
The new alliance agreement will involve REJV in a wider range of activities, including maintenance of the mobile plant fleet that had previously been undertaken by the original equipment manufacturer.
The Century Mine deal follows several other recently secured agreements by Roche Mining for the provision of mining services including:
A three-year contract at the Fosterville open cut gold mine, near Bendigo Victoria, for Perseverance Corporation. The contract involves extending existing pits at the site. Ore production is expected to commence towards the end of 2004, with a new process plant being built onsite and future plans for underground development
Agreement to negotiate a seven-year open pit mining contract for Werris Creek Coal at Werris Creek near Quirindi, NSW. Werris Creek Coal is the operating company of a JV that includes a number of shareholders of Whitehaven Coal who have mining operations near Gunnedah. The Werris Creek mine will provide 1.5Mtpa ROM thermal coal upon finalisation of development approvals and construction
A further three-year contract with Camberwell Coal to provide explosive loading equipment and infrastructure, initiating accessories, personnel and HEAT emulsion to the Camberwell mine site in the Hunter Valley
A crushing contract for the supply of rail ballast to BHPB Iron Ore near Port Hedland, WA
A process plant refurbishment for Fox Resources near Karratha, WA
A five-year maintenance contract of all electrostatic equipment at the Richards Bay Minerals mine (owned by Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton) in the Republic of South Africa, as well as an order for 12 new electrostatic separators.
