SIEMENS' Automation and Drives group has added a new device class to its family of industrial PCs with an integrated front panel.
Simatic panel PC Industrial Lite computers come equipped with an Intel Pentium III or Celeron processor, offering high PC performance at a reasonable introductory price while meeting basic industry standards.
They are vibration resistant to 0.25g and shock resistant to 1g and can operate at an ambient temperature of up to 45 degrees Celsius.
Two types of displays with touch screens are available: 12.1-inch/800x600 pixel and 15.1-inch/1024x768 pixel.
The Industrial Lite rounds off the Simatic Panel PC 670 and 870 device class, offering the stability and functions needed for use in an industrial environment.
The PC is available in a scalable version with different operating systems (such as Windows ME, NT4 and 2000 Professional), processors (700MHz Intel Celeron or 933MHz Intel Pentium III) and main memory sizes (for example, 128MB and 256MB).
The standard package includes a CD ROM drive, a 20GB hard disk as well as 100Mb/s fast ethernet and audio interfaces on board.
All devices have three PCI slots to accommodate expansions, for example, to install communications boards to link-up to the process.
Aside from two USB interfaces, all devices also come equipped with a parallel LPT1 interface, a serial V.24 interface as well as two PS/2 interfaces. 131 773.
