TDK Semiconductor Corporation, represented by , has unveiled a new addition to its family of embedded modem analogue front end (AFE) devices.
The new 73M1903 eliminates the need for a dedicated crystal oscillator, features programmable sample rates, and is a low cost solution for analogue modems up to 56kbps.
The 73M1903 is suitable for DSP or RISC based soft modem applications such as multi-function printers/fax machines, game consoles, internet appliances and set-top boxes, and offers a complete array of features designed to reduce the external component count.
A feature of the device is DAA and pin compatibility with TDK's V.22bis hard modem, the 73M2901CL. It also has the ability to support third party high speed data pumps on the same PCB.
This offers customers the ability to economically configure low and high speed modem solutions in the same product as well as a risk-free migration path from hard to soft modems.
Building on TDK's K-series and 73M2901 series of modems, the 73M1903 includes on-chip PLL supporting reference frequencies between 9 and 40MHz, power conservation modes, sigma-delta converter with programmable sample rates, differential hybrid circuitry, and can be configured for CTR-21, FCC and other telco standards worldwide.
The 73M1903 is available for sampling in low cost 20-pin SOIC and 32-pin TQFP packages.
