The three-day Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) Mining Risk Management Conference is designed to show new project developers and existing mining operators how, in practical terms, the risks associated with the technical, commercial, environmental and regulatory issues can be best evaluated. The program will also provide the information and tools for management of identified risks.
The conference will cover the whole mining project cycle from exploration through production to final mine closure. Case studies will illustrate by example how inappropriate risk management focus or systems can dramatically affect the bottom line resulting in marked underperformance or even complete corporate collapse.

Other events
Also being held in conjunction with AIMEX will be the inaugural Australia’s International Oil & Gas Expo that will feature a range of industry suppliers including those from the welding and piping sectors.
Two major features of the Expo will be the Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA) Technology Week that will feature two major international conferences and the Foundation Fieldbus End Users Council Australia (FFEUC) one-day seminar program and training course.
WTIA Technology Week, which runs from September 8-12, will present the International Piping Integrity and Management Conference; and the Surface Engineering Conference. Both programs run over Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th.
The Piping Integrity & Management Conference will address effective means of reducing the incidence of major events and leaks through improving the integrity and management of piping systems.
The Surface Engineering Conference will provide technical information on issues facing engineers every day such as: choice of process; quality; surface treatment thickness and hardness ranges; abrasion and corrosion resistance; processing time, temperature and pressure; costs; distortion tendencies; and other critical process factors and coating characteristics.
The FFEUC, a peak body for fieldbus end users, one-day seminar program and training course will be based upon the theme Fieldbus - reaping the benefits. The program will feature international experts who will speak of their experiences.
