More in store
When it comes to maintenance and repair, nothing can be more frustrating than having to turn the workshop upside down to find tools and parts.
Finding tools and parts in makeshift cabinets and bookshelves can be even more frustrating, often requiring the flexibility of a gymnast, and the patience of a saint to access particular items.
Phoenix Storage Systems is developing new high-density storage designed to save users time and space by replacing the standard filing system with a product that can house tools and equipment in a smaller area.
“With the new high density storage cabinets and trolleys, it’s possible to set drawers up in a manner that suits the user,” Rod Leon of Phoenix Storage told Australian Mining.
“It reduces time in retrieving items because the whole drawer can be labelled and viewed when opened. Seals limit dust and dirt, and potential damage and loss of items is also minimised.”
“The latest high-density storage has been designed to take the rigors of the mining industry,” he said.
Made of heavy-duty steel, the drawers can take weights from 100 kg to 200kg, and trolley wheels can withstand up to 500kg each.
“High density storage can reduce stock taking counts by 75%,” Leon said.
“Equipment is protected from dust, dirt, damage and loss, and systematic storage of parts increases retrieval time.
“Drawer compartments, with easy access to stored parts in full view, can be arranged to suit operator requirements.
“Cabinets pre-treated to resist rusting can also be moved closer to the work area.”
A huge benefit from the latest storage solutions, says Leon, is a reduction in space of more than 50% over conventional shelving. Accessories include plastic bins in eight different sizes.
“The bins are great for housing smaller components,” Leon said.
“Metal partitions and dividers offer flexibility to divide drawers as required.”
Trolleys can also be customised to a particular configuration.
