Mems Technology Berhad (MemsTech) has teamed with San Jose-based MTBSolutions to provide North American customers support and manufacturing services for MEMS based products.
Under their agreement, MTBSolutions will provide design, engineering, applications and market support for the Malaysia-based sensor maker's foundry and packaging facilities.
"North American customers now have access to cost effective high-volume MEMS device manufacturing complemented by highly experienced engineering and customer support," Mark DiOrio, CEO of MTBSolutions, said in a statement. "Smaller MEMS companies with well differentiated technology can now compete effectively against larger scale companies who own their own fabs and assembly operations."
MemsTech and MTBSolutions target a wide range of MEMS based applications including: pressure sensors, silicon microphones, thermopile arrays/thermal camera's (IR) and low G (2G) accelerometers. MemsTech's manufacturing capabilities include 0.6-micron CMOS micromachining with standard IC processing capabilities, bulk and surface micromachining, and wafer-to-wafer bonding expertise. Additionally, MemsTech provides passive and active trimming algorithms, microcontroller programming, and ASIC solutions.
"Customers in sensor, camera, memory, accelerometers, and other markets have utilized MemsTech's leading-edge technology to meet aggressive technical and time-to-market requirements," said Bryan Patmon, MemsTech founder, in the statement. "By combining our efforts with those of MTBSolutions, we can better serve the emerging markets created by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs."
