VERISIGN and EAN Australia have announced an alliance to launch the EPCglobal Network locally. Based on RFID technology, the EPCglobal Network will allow Australian businesses to increase their ability to track and share supply chain information.
The EPC Starter Service will allow businesses to conduct pilot projects using RFID-driven event information prior to rolling the service out to their full supply chain. EPCglobal Network offers businesses the benefits of a low-cost packaged service to reduce transaction costs and provide true visibility of information between supply chain partners.
The service enables businesses to automatically locate and generate real-time information about RFID-tagged products across various points in the supply chain. The service is designed to improve customer service reaction times and visibility at all points in the supply chain. Additionally, it can facilitate an open, collaborative environment with trading partners, shortening transaction times and increasing efficiencies and process control.
