KAZ , Telstra's ICT company, has won a $3 million, 3-year managed IT services contract to provide St John of God Health Care with server hosting and business service continuity for its operations in Victoria and Western Australia.
"The decision by St John of God Health Care to award the contract to KAZ endorses KAZ's strong capability to provide coast to coast service continuity, including infrastructure hosting and managed services," said Mike Foster, CEO of KAZ.
"By combining KAZ's highly skilled people, state of the art processes, infrastructure and technology, with Telstra's strong networking capability, we have implemented a solution that ensures critical applications are available around the clock to St John of God Health Care," said Mr Foster.
The contract also involves hosting and managing the group's production facilities in Melbourne and Perth, with the long term objective of an automatic fail over from one site to the other in the event of any major outage.
St John of God Health Care's Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Michael Stanford, said the group would benefit from having the two high quality data centres, with comprehensive business service continuity and communication links.
"Just as in our clinical areas, continuous improvement is a critical factor in ensuring our information technology resources are safeguarded and operating at best practice," he said.
St John of God Health Care is Australia's third largest private hospital operator, with 11 hospitals - acute, rehabilitation and psychiatric - in Western Australia and Victoria.
A Catholic, not for profit health care provider, the group also operates pathology services in WA and Victoria and a Social Outreach and Advocacy program across six key areas of need: aboriginal health, alcohol and other drugs, international health, mental health, palliative care and rural health.
With revenue of $560 million, St John of God Health Care operates 1,665 hospital beds and employs more than 6,600 staff.
