Huawei to use Corning EDFAs

China’s Huawei Technologies will use single-channel erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFAs) from Corning in its high-speed SDH optical networking systems.

The agreement, covering a three-year timeframe, marks the start of a strategic relationship fro the supply of optical amplifiers and pump lasers by Corning to Huawei.

Under the deal, Huawei will use the Corning PureGain 1000 amplifier platform in its OptiX 10G SDH optical networking systems.
