Handheld infrared thermography solution

brings thermal imaging and thermography to a far wider user base. Thermography and thermal imaging has traditionally been a high cost exercise. Russell Fraser Sales has released a high quality, low-cost, portable solution - the new MobIR M4 thermal imaging camera.

The MobIR M4 is roughly the same size and shape as a mobile phone and weighs less than 300gm. This makes it suitable for both traditional and new applications.

The device comes complete with a thermal imaging camera, a visible image camera, laser locator, and thermal and visible channel displays allowing easy identifcation of thermal features with a temperature measurement sensitivity of approximately 0.1°C.

The MobIR M4 automatically indicates the position and temperature of the hottest spot within the image. The user is also able to define preset values that trigger an audible alarm if exceeded.

The fourth generation micro bolometer detector used in the M4 makes it the most consistent infrared system of its size available today. The uncooled detector operates in the long wave portion of the infrared spectrum. The camera can be used indoors and outdoors, under all lighting conditions.

The real-time system scans at the standard video rate of 60Hz, which allows the operator to scan moving objects or scan while moving. Even at this high frame rate, the M4 infrared camera still has excellent sensitivity.

The M4 is able to highlight the thermal differentiation of materials using object emissivity, single and multiple point temperatures, isotherms, min/max and electronic zoom. With 100MB of onboard storage and a voice annotation feature, the MobIR M4 is a complete mobile thermography package.

It is bundled with post processing software (Windows-based) that offers extensive reporting, image processing and temperature measurement functionality.

Connectivity is via USB to ensure speed of transfer and data integrity. The unit can also be re-charged via the USB connection.

The MobIR M4 has already shown itself to be suitable for applications such as energy management and building surveys, analysis of storage/reactor tank levels and insulation, pipe blockage, motor and pump bearings, overheating electrical switchgear, transformers, bus-bars and power lines, medical/veterinary thermography plus many other areas.

Russell Fraser Sales is an authorised distributor for the M4 manufacturer in Australasia.
