The Federal Government hopes Australia’s $1 billion science industry will expand following Thursday’s launch of the Science Industry Action Agenda.
The Government hopes the plan will identify and develop strategies to overcome any impediments to growth in the industry.
“Scientific instruments are a key enabling technology that underpin the international competitiveness of a wide-range of industries, including health care, energy, mining, agriculture, marine resources and information technology,” Industry, Tourism and Resources Minister Ian Macfarlane said.
“The industry exhibits many of the attributes of a strong emerging and innovative industry with a growth rate of up to 20% and the majority of these firms are small businesses, with fewer than 10 employees,” Macfarlane said.
