Flow Communications has teamed with equipment supplier D-Link to offer a complete ADSL broadband package for retail and small business customers through Dick Smith Powerhouse stores.
Under the deal, customers will be able to choose from a range of speeds and volume traffic plans as well as having an easily installable pre-configured solution requiring only a USB port, according to Flow Communications national channel manager Glen Young.
“We have simplified the whole process to the point that, from the beginning of June, a customer can go into a Powerhouse store and sign up online with Flow and buy a modem from the range offered by D-Link,” Young said.
“Due to the unique nature of the Flow delivered service, once the line has been provisioned the customer is then able to self-install the service and start seeing the benefits of high speed Internet.”
The partnership with Flow forms part of a new strategy for D-Link involving some of Australia’s leading ISPs, allowing them to provide pre-configured ADSL modems and other ADSL equipment suited to retail and small business customers.
While Flow is the first to come on board, other major ISPs are expected to join the programme during the next few months, according to D-Link Australia and New Zealand telecomms business development manager Graeme Reardon.
“We have the infrastructure in place to support the channel right through to the consumer,” Reardon said.
“The demand for ADSL in the home and the small business markets is really starting to take off and it makes sense for customers to buy their connection and their equipment from the one place.”
