Fabricating system for coils and blanks

PIVATIC Oy, represented in Australia by , has released technology for flexible and cost-effective production of sheetmetal products starting directly from both a coil or blank material.

A complete Pivatic flexible fabricating system (FFS) was displayed at Euro-Blech 2004 including the PCC125 punching centre and the FLW225/FSW125 bending line. Besides punching and bending the FFS has automated material handling, feeding, rotating tooling, stacking and loading systems.

Simultaneous punching, cutting to length and bending operations prevent costly lead times between work processes. Pivatic FFS makes material handling fluent and fully automatic. The pick-up decoiler with two coil cars drastically reduces changeover times. The gripper feeder system for coils and blanks allows the use of both materials in the same production run. PivaCam Product Programming and Order Management are easy to use, dramatically reducing product lead times.

A tool selector system provides the punching centre with a fast and accurate punching method with zero tool selection time and reduced cycle times. TTii quick-change tool cassettes with 2+2 auto-indexing tool stations and 18+18 fixed Tick Turret tool stations virtually eliminate tool exhange time. The double-tool-punch (DTP) feature enables punching of two symmetrical holes or hole patterns with one ram hit with a rate of two x 600 strokes a minute totalling 1200 hits a minute. A selectable hydraulic ram provides a force of up to 40t. Programmable stroke length allows the use of materials up to 5mm thick.

A smart combined stacking and loading device is mounted between punching and bending machines. Punched blanks can be stacked in multiple piles by a stacking device, transported directly for bending, or loaded by a destacking device to the bending line. This system can be used as a buffer between punching and bending operations if cycle times or batches vary. It also minimises the use of floor space.

All sides of the work piece are bent simultaneously. Different bending angles and dimensions are freely programmable and parts can be bent upwards and downwards in the same station.

Pivatic FFS are built by combining a large variety of standard modules. Each FFS can be supplied based on individual requirements. Typical applications include lighting fixtures, office furniture, home and industrial appliances, computer cases, HVAC equipment, tool boxes and car bodies, electrical enclosures, building components, metal doors, food processing equipment, general sheetmetal jobbing and steel service centres.
