Dyno Nobel plans Ensign-Bickford ‘merger’
Another shake up in the world’s mining explosives business that will impact on Australia is the signing of a letter of intent for Dyno Nobel ASA of Norway and Ensign-Bickford Industries Inc of the USA to “merge” their explosives capabilities worldwide.
Both Dyno Nobel and The Ensign-Bickford Company (EBCo), a subsidiary of Ensign-Bickford Industries, Inc, have a major presence in blast-initiation systems and specialty blasting products, while Dyno Nobel also manufactures and markets a full range of explosives products and services.
The merger of EBI’s commercial explosive initiation systems businesses, based in Simsbury, Connecticut, with Dyno Nobel is subject to the completion of a definitive agreement, mutual due diligence by both companies and various regulatory processes.
The merger is expected to occur in the second half of this year, producing a company with annual revenues of almost US$900m and operating in 36 countries.
