Chip and system reverse engineering and analysis firm Chipworks Inc. reported today it has invested $250,000 in new lab facilities to support increasing customer demand for system analysis services.
As part of the investment, Chipworks has expanded its facility by 418.06 square meter to a total of 4,180.64 square meter, a company spokesperson confirmed.
The company has noted more and more customers using Chipworks’ system level analysis and expertise to support their patent portfolios while keeping an edge on their competition, according to Steve Adam, VP of patent intelligence at Chipworks.
“To meet this need, we’ve expanded our lab facilities and furnished this new lab with state-of the-art equipment,” he said.
Further, the company has added personnel focused on system level expertise to supplement its systems analysis services.
Also, with semiconductor companies facing increasingly competitive market demands, Chipworks said it aims to help them protect their software patents through systems analysis while maximizing IP’s revenue potential on a much larger scale.
Julia Elvidge, Chipworks’ president, said in a statement, “We direct our business based on what our customers tell us they need.”
“Now, they’re telling us that they need our expertise in supporting patents at the system and software levels,” she continued.
“Our new systems lab gives our engineers the tools to handle the ever-expanding workload,” Elvidge concluded.
