The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) has a new publication on the minerals industry.
The Australian Mineral Economics – A Survey of Important Issues is the first authoritative Australian volume published in this area since the mid-1980s, and provides a timely review of economic, financial and policy issues affecting the mining industry both in Australia and internationally.
The volume provides an informative overview of mineral economics set out in four main sections: the place of minerals and the world economy; mineral demand, supply and the operation of mineral markets; mineral finance, project evaluation, risk assessment and feasibility studies, and minerals and public policy.
This publication will hold interest to those minerals professionals wishing to keep abreast of current thinking on this subject.
It will have particular appeal for the mineral economics student seeking to gain an understanding of this field. The two editors, Professors Philip Maxwell and Pietro Guj, head the successful Master’s degree program in Mineral Economics at the Western Australian School of Mines, Curtin University, Australia.
Several colleagues have also contributed chapters to this publication to form a solid reference on the topics relating to this area.
