AMCOR Packaging will be sentenced in the Melbourne County Court today in relation to the death of a worker at its Fairfield Paper-making plant in March last year.
Amcor Packaging pleaded guilty earlier this month to two workplace safety charges laid after the death of 29-year-old Ivanhoe man, Darren Moon.
He was using an air hose to blow paper that had torn during production back onto rollers when it was caught at a "nip point". The air hose was drawn into the machine, along with Darren, who was crushed.
Amcor was prosecuted by the Department of Public Prosecutions with failing to provide safe plant and systems of work and failing to properly train, supervise and instruct its workers.
WorkSafe’s Executive Director, John Merritt will be at court as will be members of the victim’s family.
