The first annual ACE Mentor Program/DFW Chapter awards banquet honored local students with architectural/construction/engineering university scholarships. High school students Elizabeth Castro, Brenda Gonzales, Nancy Gonzalez, and Javier Cardoso each received a $4,000 scholarship to a university of their choice. In addition to scholarships, many of the students were interviewed and offered paid summer internships at HKS, Inc., Perkins & Will, Turner Construction Company, and The Thornton-Tomasetti Group.
The ACE Mentor Program is an after-school program that serves high school youth interested in exploring career opportunities in these industries. The first-time Dallas program is hosted by architectural firms HKS, Inc. and Perkins & Will/CRA; engineering firms The Thornton-Tomasetti Group, ccrd Partners, Vidaud + Associates, and LopezGarcia Group; as well as construction firms Centex, Manhattan Construction Company, and Turner Construction Company. Medical City Dallas, Jenkins & Gilchrist, and Auerbach, Albert & Gold played key roles in the development of the program.
