TEXAS Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (TI-RFid) Systems, represented by Electro-Com (Australia) , has released a new 13.56MHz radio frequency identification (RFID) tag designed for use in textile or clothing rental and laundry dry cleaning industries.
The 22mm circular laundry transponder is housed in a rugged plastic encapsulation, which is compatible with international ISO15693 standards for contactless RFID.
The 13.56MHz laundry transponders are designed and tested to withstand the harsh conditions present in industrial cleaning processes.
Sewn into or attached to clothing or textiles, the RFID tags can be used to simultaneously identify 50 items and more accurately track and identify items through each stage of the process.
Unlike conventional tags, the electronic tags do not tear off or become worn or damaged even in laundry environments. Because they can be embedded or sewn into the items, these tags can be re-used without being lost or removed.
Tags can be read though clothing and other materials and do not require a direct line of sight.
The reader antenna can be mounted over a conveyor for automated identification of all items being handled. This allows more efficient management of inventories, faster invoicing, full traceability and more efficient, reliable service.
Each tag has a unique 64-bit factory-programmed identifier, which cannot be duplicated, ensuring items are not misidentified.
The unique ID can be laser-etched on the transponder’s plastic casing for quick visual verification.
With 2000 bits of read/write memory, the transponders can be updated with product, user and application-specific information to provide complete traceability.
TI also manufactures a range of compatible 13.56MHz, ISO15693 readers and antennas, and works with several software developers and systems integrators to provide complete RFID identification and tracking solutions for textile rental and dry cleaning customers.
