Thermosafe’s award-winning induction heaters continue to lead the market even after 30 years of production.

This was proved recently when a longstanding customer and regular user of Thermosafe’s Type A induction heater returned their unit to the company’s UK factory for assessment after 27 years of use. Following a full set of tests conducted on the unit, Thermosafe found the induction heater to be in perfect condition with its performance as good as new.

Thermosafe simply replaced the cable and gland before returning it to the customer for many more years of service.

Thermosafe’s induction heaters create their own magnetic field to directly heat the steel wall of the drum without radiant elements or moving parts, ensuring reliability for a lifetime. These heaters are fully ATEX and IECEx certified for use in Zone 1 and 2 Hazardous Areas.

Case Study: Adshead Ratcliffe

The original Thermosafe induction drum heater was developed and field tested in the early 1980s primarily to solve the problem of heating polybutene synthetic resins, which are highly viscous at normal ambient temperatures, have very low thermal conductivity, and can be combustible under certain conditions.

After receiving certification for use of the induction drum heaters in potentially explosive atmospheres in 1986, Thermosafe began commercial manufacturing soon after with one unit from the very first batch supplied to Adshead Ratcliffe. These drum heaters have since been sold to over 60 countries.

Adshead Ratcliffe continued to use their first heater in the manufacture of intumescent strips for sealing of glazing in commercial buildings till an additional heater became necessary; the second unit, also from Thermosafe, was purchased in 2015, almost 30 years after the original.

Thermosafe induction drum heaters are available in Australia from SBH Solutions Australia .
