Rotork Gears has introduced a new rugged industrial grade model to its market-leading range of gearboxes.

Manufactured by Rotork Gears, the rugged, industrial grade gearboxes are designed for use with motorised quarter-turn valves and dampers. Supplied standard with cast iron housing components, Rotork’s new AB550M gearboxes feature high performance axial thrust bearings, a protected steel input shaft and a polyurethane coating to deal with difficult applications and aggressive environments.

With their ability to support electric actuators weighing up to 46 kilograms and input speeds of up to 72rpm, these gearboxes are suitable for diverse applications in the chemical, power generation, water and sewage treatment, HVAC and general industries.

Key features of Rotork’s new AB550M industrial grade gearboxes include maximum output torque of 600 Nm; 45mm maximum output bore; output flange sizes from F07 to F16; +/-5° adjustable 90° stroke; ability to operate in ambient operating temperature range from -60°C to +200°C; standard IP67 environmental protection allowed to be increased to IP68 for marine, continuous submersion and buried service duties; and fire-safe option conforming to ISO10497 also available.

The AB550M can operate a large range of ball, butterfly and plug valves, or power and process dampers.
