Packspec conducts trials to ensure the quality of its paperboard pallets, rated to carry 2,000 kg.

During the first trial, 29 pallets were stacked up to 2.4 metres high and were protected with stretch wrap and edge protection. Pallet 1 had been used as a carry pallet to statically carry a weight of 1,400 kg for 4 months. By the end of this period, no compression or crushing evidence of feet was evident. As part of the trial, the pallet was moved with a fork truck. The edges of the pallet were straight and held the load rigid, with no evidence of buckling, nor stress on the pallet edges.

In trial 2, a pallet was placed in a cooler and another one in a freezer as carry pallets during a period of 8 months. The bottom pallet profile seemed to show some signs of repetitive fork entry damage but remained stable. Pallets typically weigh in excess of 1,000 kgs and after 8 months neither pallet showed any signs of humidity moisture breakdown in the paper, delamination or collapse.
