Peter Scott reckons the 25-tonne porta power rams he hires from Kennards Lift & Shift are ‘as safe as houses’.

He has been using these simple hydraulic jacking tools for more than 30 years to lift houses in order to give home owners extra rooms or to remove the risk of flooding.

“In 10 days I can add $20,000 to the value of a property,” he said.

Peter said it was more economical to hire power rams, rather than have his own because of maintenance and repair costs.

“I know the Kennards equipment is well maintained and I am confident it is safe and reliable,” he said.

Peter said the house lifting process starts with two main steel beams being driven in underneath the house.

Steel gridwork is then laid across the beams and becomes part of the house.

Porta power rams connected by leads to remote pumps are used in a cantilever lift with the house rising 150mm at a time.

After each lift, packing wood is inserted and the process is repeated.

Kennards Lift & Shift has hire centres in Brisbane, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
