Kennards Lift & Shift, in Wollongong, has provided a school building project a mobile aluminium gantry case, with a chain block, to help assist lifting woodwork lathes onto pallets and moving metalwork. Kennards Lift & Shift had provided more than just hiring equipment but also safe and efficient lifting and moving methods for the school building project.

Edwards Construction had hired the gantry crane, from Kennards Lift & Shift, for the school building project at Illawarra Senior College in Port Kembla. The project consisted of building new metal workshops and the refurbishment of the old metalwork and woodwork facilities to trade standard for the construction and timber joinery industries.

“We had a very short time frame during school holidays, so it was important to find the safest and most efficient method,” says Site Manager, Grant Wilcox. Wilcox said about twenty metalwork and woodwork lathes, drills and other heavy equipment had to be relocated for re-use at another school.

“What Kennards recommended worked really well. The gantry was unreal. There wasn’t much room between some of the lathes, but it was easy setting up the gantry around them.”

Kennards Lift & Shift provides a range of gantry cranes for hire, including rolling gantries with a capacity of up to five tonnes and beam spans of up to six metres.
