Hiring lifts burden

Supplier News

Lifting equipment is often costly to buy and maintain, so hire and rental can present a more economic alternative.

Kennards Lift and Shift supplies lifting, height safety and materials handling equipment to the Australian mining industry.

A range of lifting and safety equipment, such as the rough terrain forklift, is available Australia-wide.

An example of the equipment in stock is the tripod and recovery system, which comes with a multi function winch. The winch is a fall arrestor and a recovery winch for raising and lowering people.

Another is the counter weighted arm, or external prop. Noted for its mobile lifting ability, the prop provides a mounting point for a hoist outdoors or where no other anchor point exists.

It is a free-standing tripod to which a hoist or minifor can be attached to enable it to lift loads of up to 150kg in the outdoors from any height. When the load reaches the top, the pivot arm can then be rotated to place the load safely away from the edge.

The major advantage is its ability to lift over edges and in some circumstances it eliminates the need for a crane. The prop breaks down into 20kg segments for easy transport and quick assembly.

In addition to hiring the equipment, Kennards Lift and Shift says it also provides technical knowledge and support to help get the job done safely.

The full range of equipment is featured in the company’s new catalogue that includes pictures and technical detail of the gear. It also features basic rigging rules, tables of masses, conversion tables and a list of associated Australian Standards. The company says this makes the catalogue a useful reference manual.

The catalogue is available free from any Kennards outlet or can be accessed online at www.liftandshift.com.au

Kennards has recently expanded its extensive branch network with the opening of a branch in Richmond, Victoria.
