JLG Industries NSW has introduced its latest range of scissor lifts designed for the rental industry.

To be launched in late 2014, JLG Industries’ innovative R6 scissor lifts already have pre-orders in place in Australia and New Zealand. Uniquely tailored to the Australasian market, the R6 has been designed for JLG customers, complete with their input based on the feedback received on a prototype machine displayed at the 2014 HRIA convention on the Gold Coast.

Arron Cooper, JLG Product Manager - Australia & New Zealand explains that design features such as the lockable anti-vandal protection covers on the R6’s control boxes and an active pothole protection system, which allows for better clearance in the travel position, have been included based on customer input.

Arron adds that the R6 scissor lifts have been designed and developed to meet the needs of customers and suit the requirements of the rental industry.

Key features of JLG’s R6 scissor lifts include an electric drive system enabling industry-leading duty cycles twice that of the hydraulic-driven versions of other OEMs; rear wheel drive providing extra protection for the drive motors to reduce risk of damage; and only four hydraulic hoses on the electric drive unit, reducing service time and offering fewer leakage points. Standard hydraulic drive units can have up to 18 hydraulic hoses.

According to Arron, the R6 scissor lifts ensure low long-term cost of ownership. For instance, parts commonality with JLG’s ES series ensures parts are readily available, while the overall design reduces servicing requirement, and the hydraulics pump and valve are easily accessed to simplify maintenance.

The rugged design of R6 scissor lifts ensures maximum performance with minimal problems. The entire R6 range is backed by JLG's industry-leading ground support structure, which includes factory-trained technicians both in their workshops and in their extensive fleet of field service vehicles, which are all equipped with IVT and spare parts.
