Differentiating Features
The new ‘PS’ Models, all with powershift transmissions, feature a number of improvements over the previous 3500 and 4000 Series machines, designed to enhance overall performance and operator-appeal.

The nine new models carry new nomenclature, using the same descriptive model designations (3508 though to 4017) but with a ‘PS’ suffix - to distinguish them from the previous models and from other hydrostatic models in the compact range, and to highlight the powershift transmission specification. They also offer the same wide range of options and attachments.

The new models are:
JLG 3508PS, 3509PS, 3512PS, 3513PS, with 3.5t maximum lift capacity,
JLG 4008PS, 4009PS, 4012PS, 4013PS and 4017PS, with 4t max lift capacity, and with lift heights of 7.9m, 9m, 11.5m, 13m and 17mtrs respectively.

The new models feature the proven drive-train of the previous 3500 and 4000 models, powered by the 74.5kW (100hp) Perkins 1104.44 Tier II turbo-diesel engines and driving through a four-speed powershift transmission.
The main structural components (chassis-frames and booms) remain unchanged, but provision has been made for subsequent update to the new Tier III Perkins engine when it becomes available.

The powershift transmission now incorporates a selectable brake-pedal operated de-clutch function and there is an improved stabiliser/chassis-levelling interlock system to facilitate positioning during loading-out operations.

The PS Series’ hydraulic system retains the industry-leading high-output (132 l/min) variable- displacement, load-sensing pump, coupled to a new flow-compensating valve. This gives more responsive and balanced proportional-control for faster cycles, and better use of power, with improved overall efficiency, fuel economy and performance.

On the outside, a new, more robust engine hood replaces the previous fibreglass version, and provides improved heat and sound insulation. In addition, the air-intakes for radiator and air-filter have been incorporated into the new hood. Under the hood, a new JLG-designed electronic control system for engine and hydraulics has been introduced, providing better control and easier servicing with an in-built analyser. It also allows for easy updating, if required, and incorporates an improved (optional) anti-theft system.

A distinctive all-new modern cab design provides improved access and visibility, and a more ergonomically-designed interior, with a new ‘comfort’ seat, better driving position, with repositioned pedals, adjustable steering wheel and multi-function joystick controls. A new over-centre park-brake is more convenient and is positioned to allow easier access to the cab.

Other cab details such as increased glass area with a flat-glass front wind-screen, the dash panel, moulded interior trim and floor mat, improved heating and (optional) air-conditioning systems, have all been upgraded, together with the provision of more stowage space in the cab.
