Interworld Electronics has introduced a new range of shock and vibration data loggers from MSR Electronics GmbH.

Widely used in the field of transportation monitoring, the MSR165 shock and vibration data logger performs 1600 shock measurements per second in all three axes, and has the capacity to store over 1 billion measured values, as well as the ability to add additional temperature, humidity, pressure and light sensors.

Thanks to the enhanced memory capacity (2 million measured values by default, 1 billion measured values with a microSD card) as well as improved software for capturing and evaluating the recorded data, the MSR165 offers an increased working range and longer life battery.

From a performance perspective, the new data loggers are capable of monitoring shocks up to ±200 g, from the previous ±15 g limit. This extended working range is beneficial for recording applications where very large forces occur suddenly. For instance, high transient shocks can occur during transportation monitoring of delicate goods, industrial drop and impact testing and in aerospace applications. The MSR165 uses its digital 3-axis acceleration sensor to detect any unplanned events, with the sensor beginning to record data when an acceleration threshold is exceeded, or at a pre-set time.

The new MSR165 shock and vibration data logger records 32 measured values even before the shock event takes place to ensure that the history of the shock can be examined during G-force analysis.

Designed for long-term operation, MSR165 data loggers have extremely low power requirements and can record shock measurements for a period of up to six months by default thanks to its rechargeable 800 mAh lithium-polymer battery.

The unit now comes with two additional long-term power supply options to ensure an even longer recording period. For a recording period of up to five years the MSR165 can now be equipped with two replaceable Li-SOCl2 3.6 V 7700 mAh batteries, while the MSR Power Pack increases the recording period by up to six times. The MSR Power Pack is an autonomous charging station with a capacity of 5000 mAh that can be used to recharge the internal battery of the data logger during operation.
