A Domino A320i inkjet printer is delivering 100% production uptime, maintenance-free push button operation and increased output to Belgian soft drinks producer, EVIDEL.

The A320i is the latest addition to Domino’s best-selling A-Series range of continuous ink jet printers.

EVIDEL Ginstbronnen, established in 1897 on the site of a natural spring near Gent in Belgium has been bottling its famous Ginstberg-branded pure mineral water and soft drinks for over 100 years.

While the quality and purity of the natural spring water have remained constant over the past century, the legislation surrounding the bottling and identification of the soft drinks has undergone considerable change.

Niko Claeys, Assistant Managing Director at EVIDEL explains that legislation requires every bottle to be coded and identified for future traceability.

Domino’s A-Series range of inkjet printers has been able to address all of EVIDEL’s coding and identification challenges with ease, leaving Niko and his team to focus on their core task of producing quality mineral water.

EVIDEL selected Domino’s A320i inkjet printer when it decided to expand production to include 5-gallon polycarbonate water bottles. Key requirements in the inkjet printer included the capability to increase production output and deliver tangible OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) benefits, whilst being capable of performing in a very challenging, high humidity bottling environment.

The company was already using an A300 integrated into its glass bottling line and coding onto the caps of 1-litre and 20cl bottles, which had proved to be extremely reliable and required little maintenance over the years.

The latest production expansion however demanded a technology that would allow EVIDEL greater flexibility to expand their core business without having to worry about meeting the ever-increasing legislative demands for product identification.

Key features of Domino’s A320i continuous inkjet printers:

  • QuickStep operator interface capable of printing up to four lines of reliable, readable code, text, automatic serial and batch numbering, and real-time clocks
  • i-Tech intelligent technology enables optimum performance delivering tangible productivity benefits
  • New Qube ink system containing working ink and ink filters can be changed in less than 10 minutes
  • Uses 90% less system ink and 50% less ink solvent than its predecessor model
The A320i was installed into the glass bottling line enabling EVIDEL to increase production speeds, while the A300 was transferred to the new polycarbonate line.

According to Niko, the A320i inkjet printer has delivered on all fronts, helping EVIDEL achieve a 5% increase in efficiency on the bottling line resulting in greater production of bottles per hour in addition to 100% uptime.

Niko concludes by saying that the A320i allows them to concentrate on their product without worrying about the necessary coding requirements.
