The new NexGen rotary leak inspection system from ALPS (Air Logic Power Systems) of Wisconsin, USA is designed for use in plastic bottle blow moulding, metal container, composite container and dispensing closure manufacturing facilities.

Highly popular in these segments, the ALPS NexGen has already sold over 75 units since its recent launch.

NexGen rotary leak inspection systems employ encoder based timing and patented speed compensation technology to perform functional tests on plastic, metal and composite containers to ensure they seal and can hold pressure.

The NexGen system eliminates issues particularly related to current generation lightweight bottles that use recycled materials where there is increased probability of ‘micro-leaks’.

NexGen rotary leak inspection systems seal and pressurise every container with a test probe, performing a decay timed pressure test. These leak inspection systems can test from hundreds of milliseconds to several seconds on the container or closure depending on the level of testing required.

The NexGen system is currently being used on FMCG production lines worldwide for food, beverage, household cleaners and automotive products among others.

ALPS has installed the leak inspection systems at nine of the top ten North American bottle blow moulding companies and also have an installed base of 10,000+ leak testing circuits globally including their product range from the single head linear machines to the NexGen high speed rotary systems.

NexGen rotary leak inspection systems can detect defects such as:

  • Gate pinholes and cracks
  • Laser coding holes
  • Contamination holes
  • Thin wall holes
  • Short shots
  • Seal surface nicks
  • Malformed bottles or containers
  • Weak bottle shoulders or base
Key features of NexGen rotary leak inspection systems:
  • Detection range from 0.1mm diameter
  • Available in configurations from 4 to 30 heads
  • Designed to meet specific speed and sensitivity requirements
  • Offers speeds of up to 60,000 bph
  • Ideal for lines ranging from 50 to 1000 cpm
  • 10-minute product changeover with quick lock
