freedom9 has released new application software for the freeStor 4020 that adds full backup and recovery functionality to Vista OS PCs over the network.
The addition of this feature makes the freeStor 4020 4-bay network attached storage (NAS) unit ideal for small business PC and server data backup appliance.
The freeStor 4020 backup and recovery application is powered by DiskSafe Express and supports up to 16 computers or servers across a range of Operating Systems; Windows 2000, Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Corporations can run DSE on each PC to ensure continual data backup and protection.
The freeStor 4020 connects to a network and can function as a Network Storage device. To make administration easy, the freeStor 4020 includes support for Microsoft's Active Directory.
This NAS also includes four hot-swappable SATA drive bays, Gigabit networking port and a built-in DHCP server. To ensure data integrity, the freeStor 4020 supports RAID 0, 1, 10 and 5 with a hot-spare.
