FLSmidth to supply key process technologies for two greenfield gold projects

Supplier News

FLSmidth will supply key process technologies for two independent greenfield gold mines being developed in West Africa and Canada.

B2 Gold, a Vancouver, Canada based gold producer is developing the Fekola gold mine located in Mali, West Africa where FLSmidth will supply the key milling, separation and gold refining technologies as well as commissioning and start-up services.

The second gold mine, Brucejack is being built in Northern British Columbia, Canada by Pretivm Resources with FLSmidth supplying the same technologies as the Fekola project scope in addition to Knelson gravity concentrators for capturing the gold content in the ore body by means of gravity separation.

Group Executive Vice President of the Minerals Division in FLSmidth, Manfred Schaffer explains that their customers are seeking highly efficient process technologies with low environmental impact. FLSmidth’s global footprint is also perceived as an advantage by gold mining companies with distributed operations where it’s normal to have the owners located in one country, the mines in another country and the engineering division in a third.
