element14 has announced the launch of a new platform that allows electronic design engineers and procurement professionals to access detailed information on electronic components via SMS.
The new mobile platform provides users with the most up-to-date details on electronic components, including pricing, specifications and regional availability.
All SMS queries are processed through element14’s Web Application Programming Interface (API), which is constantly updated with the latest information, before a response is tabulated by the system and sent back to the user. This ensures that users can be confident of the accuracy of the information they receive.
element14 Asia Pacific Marketing and eCommerce Director, Nader Tadros, notes that “mobile phones today have become integral to the work of many consumers across the region. With the rapid evolution of smartphones today, people are becoming more reliant on information and the ability to be connected on-the-go.”
The SMS platform provides users with the flexibility, convenience and accessibility demanded by these new technologies, allowing them to plan and maximise schedules and development timelines more effectively.
The system only requires that customers SMS the unique order code or part number of a specific electronic component to their local countries’ SMS gateway. The system then retrieves the necessary information from the element14 database, and sends the information directly to the mobile phone of the customer.
Information supplied on the range of element14 electronic components includes product descriptions, stock, price and even datasheets in PDF for supported mobile phones.
Customers can also access more information regarding the product by calling their local customer service number provided, or by clicking on the provided web link.
“This innovative new service has been developed to augment element14’s multi-channel, high service distribution model. element14 will continue to provide an unmatched arsenal of solutions and services such as the mobile service, allowing professionals in the electronics design industry to work in whichever way that is convenient to them,” adds Tadros.
The mobile platform system is now operational in Australia, China, India, Malaysia and New Zealand
