Aries Electronics, an international manufacturer of standard, programmed and custom interconnection products, has introduced a RoHS-compliant version of its PLCC to DIP Correct-A-Chip adapter. The new adapter offers an easy method of converting PLCC-packaged ICs to DIP footprints and is ideal for prototyping, testing and evaluation. Due to its unique manufacturing process, Aries is able to offer the adapter at a very competitive price.
The RoHs-compliant adapter is available with PLCC sockets or PLCC pads on the top and the bottom is available in DIP pin counts from 28 through 84 pins. The suggested PCB hole diameter is 0.71 mm (0.028").
The body is constructed of 1.56 mm (0.062") FR406 or IS410 per IPC 4101A/26, with one ounce of copper traces on both sides. The pins are 360-1/2 hard brass alloy per UNS C36000 ASTM-B16-85 with 10 µ" minimum gold plating per MIL-G-4524 over 100 µ" nickel plating per QQ-N-290. The optional PLCC sockets are made from UL 94V-0 Ryton; the socket contacts are phosphor bronze; and the socket contact plating is 200 µ" tin over 50 µ" nickel.
The maximum operating temperature is 105°C (221°F). The current rating is 1 A. All tolerances are ±0.13 mm (0.005").
Aries will continue to offer the standard non-RoHS compliant version of the adapter for customers who require tin/lead plating. All Aries Correct-A-Chip adapters are available in custom materials, platings, sizes and configurations to suit specific customer applications.
