Donaldson Company, Inc. has appointed Tod Carpenter, currently the Company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 1, 2015.

Carpenter’s appointment is part of the CEO succession process developed by the Donaldson Board of Directors. Current Chairman, President and CEO Bill Cook, 61, will remain Chairman of the Board.

Named COO last February, Carpenter, 55, has held various operations, sales, and managerial roles in the U.S. and Europe since joining the Company in 1996, including serving as General Manager; Vice President, Global Industrial Filtration Solutions; Vice President, Europe; and Senior Vice President, Engine Products.

Carpenter holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology from Indiana State University and an MBA from Long Beach State University; he has also completed the Minnesota Executive Program at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Cook explained that Carpenter’s appointment was part of Donaldson’s ongoing executive development and CEO succession process, which ensures that the leadership team always has the experience and knowledge to effectively manage the organisation for the benefit of shareholders and customers.

Having worked closely with Carpenter throughout his Donaldson career, Cook is confident he is the right leader for the Company as it celebrates its 100th anniversary and moves forward to its next chapter of growth, innovation, and value creation.
