Dematic will showcase its new modular Goods-to-Person (GTP) order fulfilment solution at the upcoming Smart Supply Chain & Logistics Conference in Melbourne. Dematic, a leading supplier of logistics systems for factories, warehouses and distribution centres, is a Platinum Sponsor of the event.

A flexible, off-the-shelf picking solution, Dematic’s modular GTP system delivers a picking rate improvement of up to 500% compared to a traditional environment.

Pas Tomasiello, Dematic’s General Manager of Integrated systems comments that the upcoming Smart Conference presents the perfect platform to showcase their new pre-engineered and pre-configured modular GTP order picking solution. Pas explains that the GTP solution offers fast implementation, high productivity and rapid ROI for a wide variety of small to mid-sized operations distributing from 200 to over 1,000 order lines per hour.

Dematic’s new modular GTP system delivers ultra-high pick accuracy with only one SKU presented to the operator at a time. An integrated weigh scale at the pick location checks expected weights in real time, further enhancing accuracy and ensuring that any errors are identified and corrected on the spot. Stock is delivered to picking stations in the precise sequence required for order assembly, enabling pickers to achieve very high productivity rates of more than 1,000 items per hour.

Pas added that conference attendees will get the chance to experience the benefits of Dematic modular GTP by picking their own order on the stand.

Dematic will also demonstrate the Multishuttle’s new inter-aisle transfer capability, which enables Multishuttle carts to pass totes or cartons from one aisle of the storage system to the other, allowing stock from any aisle to be delivered directly to any pick station, reducing order processing time and eliminating the costs associated with interlinking conveyor systems.

All solutions on display will be managed and controlled by Dematic iQ performance optimising software. In addition to optimising operational processes from planning to order fulfilment and shipping within a single flexible, scalable and modular platform, the software also offers visibility and insight into system performance, with intuitive dashboards operating on desktop computers, laptops and mobile devices.

In the speaker line-up, Kim Baudry, Market Development Director at Dematic North America will discuss the latest trends in ecommerce and their impact on web and omni channel retailing while Darren Rawlinson, Manager Direct & Wholesale Distribution will present a case study on Blackwoods’ award-winning Greystenes DC.

Smart Supply Chain & Logistics Conference is being held 26-27 May, 2015 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Visit Dematic at stand C7 at the Smart Conference.
