Backplane Systems Technology announces the release of Perfectron’s new rugged fanless system, the SR700, featuring an extreme rugged design, high performance and specially integrated MIL-STD M12 connectors. The M12 connectors seal the connector areas securely allowing operation to continue uninterrupted even when exposed to contamination, moisture and vibration.

The IP65 rated embedded PC is completely resistant to dust and water. The SR700 can operate effectively in harsh environments and also supports extended temperature operation from -40°C to +75°C. The SR700 has passed the MIL-STD-810G tests, confirming its resistance to extremely high and low temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration. The rugged functionality of this fanless embedded computer is a perfect solution for defence, marine, navigation and aviation applications.

Based on the Intel Haswell QM87 chipset, the SR700 fanless embedded computers are powered by an Intel 4th generation Core i7-4700EQ processor.

Key features of the new SR700 embedded PCs include 9V~36V DC input design protecting the system from damage caused by sudden voltage surges, increasing reliability; ability to withstand vibration up to 5Grms and shock up to 50G to suit all-terrain vehicle applications; robust and reliable M12 connectors providing maximum stability and protection; MIL-STD-810G compliance; and fully integrated, tested and qualified system with ability to survive and perform reliably in harsh surroundings including mining and offshore drilling.

Optional customisation is available to increase reliability in specific applications. For example, the M12 connectors can be replaced with rugged MIL-STD-D389 99 type interfaces designed for cable-to-panel I/O applications in military, aerospace and other demanding hazardous situations, and capable of operating within an extended temperature range of -65°C to +200°C.
