ADM Instrument Engineering announces the availability of the Midori range of linear potentiometers.

Cheaper versions of linear potentiometers available in the market are not suitable for industrial automation applications, and can only be used for low cost audio and hi-fi equipment. These linear potentiometers mostly use carbon resistive tracks; the trouble with carbon is that it doesn’t age well and doesn’t like DC potentials. This has forced many design engineers to use LVDTs in industrial control applications.

Known for their reliability, Midori linear potentiometers use dual conductive plastic tracks, which are far superior to carbon resistive tracks and work well with DC excitation voltages. Typically rated at around 1 million cycles, the Midori range is perfect for many industrial automation applications.

LVDT type linear position transducers are recommended for applications that involve very rapid and repetitive linear strokes since there is no electrical contact across the transducer position sensing element, ensuring a very long life. However, linear potentiometers offer a reliable solution for industrial applications such as conveyor guide rail position monitoring.
